Green Bay Packers vs San Francisco 49ers: 5 matchups to watch
The Green Bay Packers take on the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night football. If they continue to struggle in these matchups, their season could be lost.
The Green Bay Packers (2-2-1) take on the San Francisco 49ers (1-4) on Monday night football. While the 49ers aren’t where they expected to be after starting the Jimmy Garoppolo era, the Packers aren’t doing much better in terms of their goals for the season.
This is a make or break game for the Packers because they have some brutal games following the bye in Week 7. For the 49ers, they are focusing on developing and building towards their future.
On paper, the Packers should win this game handily, but, as is evidenced by their win-loss record, games are played on the field and not on paper. The Packers need to play a complete game, rather than just halves, which is what they have done for the majority of this season. For the 49ers, they need to establish their new identity because they are a very different team with C.J. Beathard under center rather than Garoppolo.
For the 49ers to have a chance, Beathard will have to take care of the ball and they will need to come out hot. Aaron Rodgers and the Packers offense can end the game in a hurry, especially when they angry and motivated. Unfortunately for this 49ers team, Rodgers and this offense are a very angry and motivated team. If the 49ers lose most of these matchups, they will lose the game on Monday night.
