Bullpen

Freddy Peralta/Gio Gonzalez/Junior Guerra: Of the 11-man pitching staff, these were the only three who didn’t appear in any game. Both Gonzalez and Guerra were up and warming in the pen and separate points, but didn’t have their number called.

Grade: Incomplete

Corbin BurnesBurnes appeared in both Games 1 and 3 and proved to be a major weapon for the Brewers. In each appearance, he threw two scoreless innings and displayed downright filthy stuff. Overall, he struck out five batters and only allowed one baserunner to reach.

Grade: A+

Josh HaderIn a bit of a surprising move, Hader appeared in all three games for Milwaukee. However, Counsell was able to save him by not using him nearly as much as he has in the past. In total, Hader threw 2.1 innings, allowing zero hits and striking out four.

Grade: A+

Jeremy Jeffress: Jeffress was the only pitcher in the entire series to allow any runs when he blew the save in Game 1. Still, he recovered in Game 2 to throw two innings and pick up a save. Overall, he pitched 3.1 innings, allowing seven hits and two runs. Better times are ahead for Jeffress.

Grade: C

Corey KnebelKnebel has yet to allow a run since being recalled from Triple-A at the beginning of September. That incredible streak now includes three more appearances and innings in the postseason. Knebel didn’t allow a hit, walked one and struck out four.

Grade: A+

Joakim Soria: Soria was the final Milwaukee pitcher to show up in all three games. He threw 2.3 innings, giving up only one hit, one walk and striking out five. Soria proved to be an extremely valuable depth piece to this bullpen.

Grade: A+
