Initial out-getters:

Brandon WoodruffWoodruff was named as the Brewers’ “initial out-getter” for Game 1. Counsell opted not to use starters in a typical way and this was demonstrated right away. Woodruff pitched the first three innings, giving up zero hits and only one walk while striking out three. However, Counsell was set on using his bullpen so Woodruff was pulled at that point. Still, it was a great start.

Grade: B+

Jhoulys ChacinChacin started Game 2 and kept the momentum going for this unit as well as his team. Chacin was allowed to pitch a little longer in the game, going five innings and allowing no runs on three walks and three hits. The command wasn’t always there, but he still got the job done on short rest.

Grade: A-

Wade MileyMiley was the Game 3 starter and kept the scoreless streak alive for Milwaukee. Miley went 4.2 innings and gave up three hits, one walk and zero runs. Miley was quickly pulled in the fifth which made him ineligible for the win. Regardless, it was a third good start for the Brewers.
