Grades

Offense: Similar to the first four games, the Packers offense was able to do some nice things. They did have over 500 yards of total offense and the rookie receivers showed up. Valdes-Scantling and St. Brown had very nice games and should be in the league for a long time.

Unfortunately, they had a lot of missed opportunities. Rodgers’ fumbled twice in the first half and he missed a number of chances to get the ball to his receivers in prime position. Even though there were some good things, there was an equal number of bad.

Grade: C-

Defense: Even though the defense allowed 31 points, they were the best unit the Packers had. Sure, they gave up some big plays in spots, but they were also put in some extremely tough positions. The Lions scored 17 of their points off turnovers after starting in Packers’ territory all three times.

Grade: C+

Special Teams: The special teams unit was awful. And that’s being generous. The defense forced a punt on the first possession, but the punt bounced off Kevin Kings’ back and the Lions recovered on the one-yard line. Ty Montgomery also had a 64-yard kickoff return called back because of a hold.

Finally, the usually reliable Crosby missed four field goals and an extra point. That’s 13 points off the board in a game the Packers lost by eight. Even though Crosby made one at the end, it was an unusually bad day for the whole unit.
