3. Josh Allen vs Mike Pettine

Last week, against the Mike Zimmer led Vikings defense, rookie quarterback Josh Allen looked great. Whether it was good game-planning or Allen quickly developing, he picked the Vikings defense apart. The Packers defense has looked great at times, but they have looked very vulnerable at times in each game. Pettine’s job on Sunday will be to throw complex looks at Allen in order to confuse him and cause him to make mistakes.

This season, Pettine has done a great job of causing chaos and creating pressure against good quarterbacks, such as Kirk Cousins and Alex Smith, but Allen is a different player. He’s younger and could struggle at reading exotic blitzes and coverage schemes. While Pettine will want to keep things simple enough to not confuse his own defense, he might break out some of the more new stuff to cause Allen to struggle at pre-snap adjustments.

Allen has a big arm that allows him to make every throw necessary, but he will need his receivers to get open. Kelvin Benjamin is the team’s best wide receiver, but none of the receivers have been particularly exciting to date. Pettine and the defense have been generating pressure at a great clip, but they haven’t been able to get sacks at the end of all of them. If they get in Allen’s face, he could throw a few picks before the game is over.
