2. Alex Hornibrook

When you look purely at the box score against BYU, Alex Hornibrook’s numbers don’t look so bad. He completed 18-of-28 passes for 190 yards, zero touchdowns and one interception. However mediocre those numbers look, don’t let them fool you. Hornibrook was a major disappointment.

Par for the course, BYU stacked the box and forced Hornibrook to beat them. Unfortunately, the junior quarterback couldn’t lead his team against a mediocre-at-best defense. He struggled to get anything going downfield and had the awful interception.

Iowa will likely employ a similar strategy so Hornibrook must be ready. We’ve seen him get hot in the past and he needs to begin stringing together consistent performances to prove he can beat defenses. Until he does that, the Badgers might always have a ceiling on their potential.
