5. Jake Ferguson

Jake Ferguson is likely the most talented tight end on the roster despite being a redshirt freshman. He led the team in receiving yards last week with 61 yards on three receptions. On the season, he has hauled in eight receptions for 108 yards and no touchdowns.

Although those numbers aren’t overly impressive, they are coming in an offense that’s struggled to move the ball through the air. Ferguson could end up becoming Alex Hornibrook’s safety valve when he looks to dump it underneath.

Ferguson could be in line for another big game against Iowa. He is quickly gaining the confidence of Hornibrook and his teammate’s thanks to his sure hands. Zander Neuville (right leg) is listed as questionable for the game and his true status won’t be known until right before the game begins. That means Ferguson could be in for an expanded role. If he is, keep an eye on him to haul in the first touchdown of his career.
