4. Scott Nelson records another interception

Did you know there have been two Scott Nelson’s to play football for the Wisconsin Badgers? Both played defensive backs and both also appear to be ball-hawks. The first Nelson played back from 1990-1993 and recorded 14 career interceptions.

The current Nelson is a redshirt freshman safety and has one career interception. That number should double, however, as he will pick off another one against BYU quarterback Tanner Mangum. The senior quarterback threw two interceptions last week against a California defense that has nothing on this Badgers’ D.

Nelson has been flying all over the field this season and looks like a complete stud in the making. He could even end up being better than his defensive coordinator, Jim Leonhard. That may be going a bit far considering how early into Nelson’s career we are, but the freshman safety just has a knack for making plays.
