3. Mack Wilson, LB, Alabama

The NFL is certainly passing-game oriented which means the types of linebackers who are effective have switched drastically. Sure, it’s still important to have quality run-stoppers at the position such as Jake Ryan, however, it might be more important to have linebackers who can run sideline to sideline.

Wilson is that guy. His numbers a bit underwhelming at this point in his career, but the potential is certainly there. Last season, Wilson recorded 40 total tackles, 2.5 for loss and four interceptions. The interceptions are what pops off the page for a linebacker. Hopefully that playmaking transitions to the next league.

Wilson mostly relies on his athleticism at this point, as his ability to read plays is a work in progress. He’s able to cover sideline to sideline in the run game and is good in coverage as well. He’s coming off a great National Title game and hopes to build on that during his junior season.
