Green Bay Packers: 10 2019 draft prospects to know
7. Noah Fant, TE, Iowa
We break from the wide receiver position, however briefly, to preview another area where Green Bay is searching for an answer. Entering the 2018 season, the Packers kept four tight ends (Jimmy Graham, Marcedes Lewis, Lance Kendricks and Robert Tonyan) on their roster. However, none of them are long-term solutions.
Enter Noah Fant into the equation. Fant is a touchdown monster, having recorded 11 in his 2017 campaign at Iowa. He also added 30 receptions and 494 yards to that mix. At 6-foot-5 and 241 pounds, Fant is a big body that gives his quarterbacks a huge target down in the red zone.
As Fant progresses in his development, his pass-catching upside will only be further and further realized. He has the ability to win at every level of the field, demonstrated by 16.5 yards per catch in 2017. Even though he has yet to figure out that blocking thing, he’s certainly engaged in that area so the hope is it will come in due time.
