1. Brian Burns, EDGE, Florida State

Clay Matthews is a pending free agent and, based on his showing against the Chicago Bears in Week 1, he might not have much left in the tank. Nick Perry was better, but is as injury prone as he comes. Each game he stays healthy for is a surprise in and of itself.

Brian Burns is looking to bounce back in his junior season at Florida State. He burst onto the scene as a freshman in 2016 recording 8.5 sacks. He followed that up with a somewhat disappointing 4.5 sacks last year. However, the rest of his game was much more complete, as he more than doubled his tackles and accrued more tackles for loss.

Similar to Sweat, Burns has great size at 6-foot-5 and 235 pounds. Burns has the higher ceiling than Sweat and has already developed a huge arsenal of pass-rush moves. He’s only going to get better as time goes on. The biggest knock against Burns is his lack of muscle. However, that’s one of the easier weaknesses to adjust and could change over time.
