5. Aaron Rodgers vs Danny Trevathan

Rodgers is arguably the most talented quarterback of all time. Danny Trevathan is the shot caller on this defense. Rodgers has outsmarted linebackers for the majority of his career, and he will have to do that this week. He needs to knock off the rust, and Trevathan, with the rest of the Bears defense, set to give Rodgers all the fits he can handle. Vic Fangio is one of the best defensive minds in the NFL, and Trevathan will be setting everyone up.

Rodgers has played one regular season game since breaking his collarbone 11 months ago against the Minnesota Vikings. In that game, he threw three interceptions, and he looked decidedly un-Rodgers-like. While that was the Carolina Panthers defense, so it wasn’t quite the same, he’ll need to knock off some rust early in this game. Without Jordy Nelson to be his go-to, there will be some adjustment early on.

Trevathan will not receive a warm welcome from Packer fans after his hit on Davante Adams last season. He’ll be in charge of making the adjustments to counter Rodgers at the line of scrimmage, which is one of the most difficult tasks for a middle linebacker in today’s NFL. He’ll also have to cover Ty Montgomery out of the backfield, which will give him some fits due to Montgomery’s athleticism. Rodgers vs Trevathan won’t grab headlines, but it’s a subtle battle to watch.
