2. New coaching scheme

One of the Bucks biggest weakness the past few seasons has been the coaching. No offense to Jason Kidd and Joe Prunty (I know you’re reading this), but that’s just the way it is.

Initially, Kidd implemented an aggressive, trapping defense that gave the NBA fits. It forced teams to keep the ball moving and tried to punish them when they ran pick-and-rolls. However, the league adapted to the scheme and Kidd was unable to react to their adaptations. He continued to roll out the same defense despite the struggles after that first year. The results were not good.

Budenholzer brings a lot of experience to Milwaukee. He was a long-time assistant in San Antonio and led the Atlanta Hawks to a 60-win season during his tenure there. Similar to Kidd, Budenholzer brings an aggressive defensive scheme with him. However, the expectations are that he will adjust and adapt his scheme, unlike Kidd.

Overall, Budenholzer will be a breath of fresh air for the Bucks. He brings a creative approach to the game and supports a modern-style of play. Budenholzer alone will allow this team to meet their full potential.
