4. 1999: Ron Dayne’s Record Breaking Year

One of the Dayne years had to be on the list and 1999 was chosen because Wisconsin was ranked 11th in the country while scoring 34.1 points per game, both of which were the highest in Dayne’s career. This was the only year Dayne was paired with Brooks Bollinger who was the best QB he would play.

The great thing about this year was that everyone knew Dayne was going for the career yardage record, but they still couldn’t stop him. As usual, the line was loaded with talent and a lot of familiar names, most notably Mark Tauscher.

Bollinger didn’t throw for a lot of yards because he didn’t have to, but when he did connect it was usually to the one and only Chris Chambers who accounted for about half of Bollinger’s passing yards. Chambers is one of the best Badgers’ receivers of all time and had a solid career in the NFL.
