3. Greer Martini

Greer Martini was firmly on the bubble before the Packers acquired inside linebacker Antonio Morrison in a trade from the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for cornerback Lenzy Pipkins. Pipkins is a talented second-year player who was unlikely to make the team due to the depth at cornerback.

Morrison was a regular starter for the Colts and figures to take Jake Ryan’s role in the defense. He’s a stout middle linebacker who is great at playing downhill and stuffing the run. He’s very stiff in pass defense and likely won’t provide much in that department, leaving the door open for Oren Burks.

Unfortunately, Morrison’s style of play is far too similar to that of Martini’s. And Morrison is much better at it. This means, barring a huge performance from Martini in the final preseason game, he’s likely to be headed to the practice squad.
