3. Brett Hundley is making the roster

Fans should really let go of any grudges held against Brett Hundley because he will be Aaron Rodgers’ backup for the 2018 season. No, he will not be traded and he will absolutely not be cut due to the fact that he is clearly the second-best quarterback on the roster.

He started ahead of Kizer for the third straight game and continued to outperform the former second-round pick. Hundley finished 8-14 for 76 yards, however, compared to Kizer’s 11-23 for 120 yards, it was superior execution.

“I really liked the way Brett Hundley started the game,” McCarthy said afterwards.

Hundley played the entire first half and was in better command of the offense. His progression in staying in the pocket and delivering the ball has been far better than what we saw last season. Obviously, being thrown into the fire in 2017 was a learning experience and now the 2015 fifth-rounder is actually starting to resemble an NFL quarterback.

Also, the Packers decided not to play undrafted free agent Tim Boyle against Oakland which likely indicates he’s no longer in the hunt for making the 53-man roster. Boyle remains a good candidate for the practice squad, though, seeing that he’s showcased a strong arm in training camp and two preseason games.
