1. Wide Receiver Battle Royale part three

Another week of games and another week where players develop. Davante Adams, Randall Cobb and Geronimo Allison are the top three wide receivers. After that, things are very up in the air. Jake Kumerow, Marquez-Valdes Scantling, J’Mon Moore and Equanimeous St. Brown have all flashed this preseason. However, none of them have been consistent enough to guarantee their final spots with the team.

In addition to the young guns, players like Trevor Davis and DeAngelo Yancey are fighting for their roster lives right now. Davis’ main shot at making the roster was by developing some consistent receiving ability. His strength in the return game made him a valuable asset, but, if he can’t catch, the team will find someone else. Yancey was a fifth-round draft pick that hasn’t amounted to much. He may be out of luck this season with the Packers.

The Packers are going to keep six or seven receivers, which could be further decided this week. Moore, Brown and Scantling are likely to be kept on as the four, five and six. If they choose to keep seven, it looks like Kumerow could be the final player. While he’s a little older, he has been the most consistent of the backup receivers so far. This game should be when the starters play the most for both sides. Receivers are always needed, and this group is scrapping for their lives.
