5. Brett Hundley vs DeShone Kizer

McCarthy and general manager Brian Gutekunst recently made comments that make it appear as though the Packers will be keeping at least three quarterbacks on their active roster. However, although Packer fans don’t want to imagine a situation where Rodgers is out with injury, it could happen. After seeing the carnage that happened last season after Rodgers went down, the Packers need to have a clear decision at backup quarterback.

Hundley has the experience advantage, as he’s played in the NFL and the league longer. However, his performance last season left much to be desired. Kizer wasn’t much better, and this preseason has seen the two perform pretty evenly. Hundley has performed well in the preseason the past two years, but that clearly didn’t translate to the regular season. Kizer has the higher ceiling, and management also traded for him.

Through two games, their stats are similar in different ways. Kizer is 15-for-30 for 283 yards and two touchdowns. Hundley is more accurate 15-for-23 for 185 yards with one touchdown and one interception. While Hundley has the lone interception between the two, he has still been more accurate than Kizer to this point. It’s possible that the number two job won’t be decided this week, but it will still be a fun battle to watch.
