1. Trade for Khalil Mack

This is the final move for Packers’ general manager Brian Gutekunst in putting a finished product on the field. The Packers make a move for stud outside linebacker Khalil Mack and bolster their defense with a difference-maker they’ve been lacking.

The last two times the franchise acquired a player similar to Mack was when they signed Reggie White and Charles Woodson in free agency. Even though Mack is younger and not nearly at that level (yet), he could still help lead the team to a Super Bowl victory similar to the other two players.

In order to make this work logistically, Green Bay sends Clay Matthews and their own first-round pick to Oakland in exchange for Mack’s services. Mack is set to make $13.8 million in 2018, about $2 million more than Matthews. That’s where the extra salary cap space goes, completing the team and not leaving any money left over (roughly).
