1. WR Trevor Davis

Like Mays, Trevor Davis has missed valuable reps in practice and games. Davis injured himself prior Packers’ Family Night with the root of the injury stemming from a hamstring tweak during the offseason. The Packers starting punt returner and backup receiver is on the verge of losing his role using the process of elimination.

Earlier, McCarthy vouched for Davis stating he was excited to see him out there as a returner and receiver this preseason after his success at the conclusion of 2017. Davis is one of the top punt returners in the league, but it is difficult for that to be the sole reason you’re on an NFL roster.

The Packers are being patient with the former fifth-round pick though the clock is ticking. Their three rookie receivers are all possible locks to make the team and preseason-MVP Jake Kumerow is a tough cut to make sense of. Kumerow is leading all receivers this preseason in yards and continues to get praise from coaches and players.

Behind Davante Adams, Randall Cobb, and Geronimo Allison, Green Bay’s receivers’ room consists of seven bodies accounting for the three rookies and Kumerow. Davis is looking like the odd man out if he can’t return soon. The Packers are unlikely to keep more than seven receivers on the final roster.

All teams must have their final rosters submitted by 4:00 p.m. ET Saturday, September 1.
