Green Bay Packers: Who is on the cut line?
2. OLB Kyler Fackrell
The emergence of Reggie Gilbert is only part of the reason Kyler Fackrell finds himself on the chopping block. And also due to the fact Green Bay activated Nick Perry from the PUP list on Sunday providing an instant boost to their pass rush.
The Packers were hoping Fackrell would be one their answers to depth issues at outside linebacker but the former Utah State Aggie has shown marginal growth in yet another offseason.
Offensive tackles easily neutralize his pass rush moves and his play strength at the point of attack continues to be a major problem. As a speed rusher, you would expect he’d be able to set the edge but that is not the case as running backs easily get outside on Fackrell for extra yardage.
Fackrell is a length guy at 6-5 with 4.7 speed, however, his athleticism that was on full display in the Mountain West Conference is no match for NFL talent. Green Bay may want to role with Gilbert and Vince Biegel as their primary backups and take the Odom-route in looking for talent elsewhere.
