Week 14 at Green Bay
This game could have a lot of playoff implications by the time the Atalanta Falcons travel to Green Bay during week 14.
Both teams will surly be battling for first place in their division as well as a wild card spot if neither team is jockeying for first place. Also, the Packers have lost their last three games against the Falcons, including the 2016 NFC Championship game.
However, all three of those games have been in Atalanta. The last time the Falcons came to Green Bay in 2014 the Packers came out on top 43-37. That game came on December 8, this matchup comes on December 9. The cold weather may be very beneficial to the Packers here.
It’s important to note that Rodgers is 2-4 against the Falcons in his career. However, he owns a 112.2 rating in his six games versus Atlanta. You may be wondering what this means and it’s the same answer, as usual, the defense needs to show up this game.
It’s been four meetings since the Packers held the Falcons to under 30 points. If you didn’t think so before allowing that stat to tell you its darn near impossible to win games in the NFL when your defense allows 30 or more points.
Having Julio Jones back and healthy gives the Falcons a heads up already. Then add in their dynamic duo of a backfield and all the rest of Matt Ryan‘s weapons and the Packers defense is going to have its hands full.
There are bound to be changes by week 14. However, with everything as is this will be one of the toughest games for the Packers.
Week 9 at New England
There are two reasons why the Patriots arr so high on this list.
First and foremost, Tom Brady is still their quarterback and last time I checked he was pretty good at football. Number two, the Packers play the Rams the week prior to the Patriots and that will certainly be a physical game.
Not to say the Patriots aren’t still a good team with good coaches, they just aren’t the Patriots of the past.
They have lost Dion Lewis, Malcolm Butler, Brandin Cooks and Nate Solder this offseason to free agency. With that, they lost their defensive coordinator, Matt Patricia, to a head coaching job.
Don’t get me wrong either, the Patriots made some moves to tighten up their defense and help replace some of their offensive members that they lost. But in my gut, I just don’t have that same feeling where I see the Patriots on the schedule and automatically place them at number one on this list.
The Packers will still need to bring it all against the Patriots to have a shot, they’re still one of the most well-coached teams in the league. It’s hard to prepare for a team that you see once in every four years that also has a football genius on it as their coach.
Do I think that the Patriots are a better team than the Falcons or Vikings? No. Do I think facing the Patriots on the road after a tough game against the next team on this list is a tougher game than facing the Falcons and Vikings at home? You bet.
