Stud Number 2. Montravious Adams

Similar to Kenny Clark after his rookie year, Montravious Adams was viewed as a draft bust. However, his season never got off the ground due to some unfortunate injuries. This offseason, he has been pushing blockers around nonstop. His low center of gravity and tremendous strength make him a beast in run defense. The Packers were viewed as having good starters, but not much else on the defensive line. Adams and Dean Lowry might have something to say about that.

Against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Adams was frequently in the backfield solo or pushing his blocker back. While it was not always starters, his skills would translate. One major thing he will help with is occupying blockers to free up the linebackers. Martinez was one of the top linebackers against the run last season, and Burks needs the help while he develops his skills in run defense. Lineups of Adams, Clark and Mike Daniels would be one of the best at stuffing the run.

With Clark, Daniels and Muhammad Wilkerson in place, Adams will be coming off the bench. However, he’ll be in the mix for regular playing time to keep the team fresh down the stretch of games. While offensive linemen will be getting tired, the Packers defensive linemen will keep battling because of depth like Adams. Last season was a letdown, but this preseason is what should be expected moving forward.
