3. Can Jason Spriggs Regain his Spot as the Backup Right Tackle?

In what was likely the most surprising move of the first week of Packers preseason football, Jason Spriggs was benched for Byron Bell after working exclusively with the first team throughout camp until that point. It was a shock for fans as well as Spriggs, who had no idea why it happened. No matter the reasoning behind it, it was a big development and a big step back for the former second round pick.

And while he looked respectable against the backups from Tennessee on Thursday, showing a better base with his newfound twenty pounds of mass, it was still against backups. Bell, on the other hand, was a disaster as a starting tackle, routinely getting beaten around the edge and struggling to recognize stunts and countermoves by defensive linemen.

Spriggs has the talent to make an impact in the NFL, but he needs to be consistently outperforming guys like Byron Bell to solidify his spot. He needs to shine this week.
