Green Bay Packers vs. Pittsburgh Steelers: 5 storylines
5. Jaire Alexander could play
Jaire Alexander suffered a groin injury during the Packers’ Family Night scrimmage a couple of weeks ago and has missed time on the practice field since. He also missed Green Bay’s first preseason game against the Tennessee Titans.
Thankfully, Alexander, the team’s 18th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, has returned to the practice field this week. It doesn’t appear his injury was anything serious and the Packers were simply playing it safe with him.
Because of the safe approach, it wouldn’t be surprising if Green Bay elects not to play the rookie cornerback. However, he’s ready to go if the team gives him the green light. For Green Bay, having their first round pick in the mix would be a huge boost. Their secondary may be deep, but they lack elite talent at the top of the depth chart. Alexander has a chance to be the best cornerback in the room, but he must first garner reps in live-game action.
