4. Oren Burks shines

Oren Burks flashed his speed against the Titans last week and that should continue against Pittsburgh. Following Jake Ryan’s season-ending injury, Burks has been thrust into one of the starting middle linebacker positions alongside Blake Martinez.

In many ways, Burks is a better counterpart to Martinez. Where Martinez is a great run-stuffing linebacker, Burks can learn to excel in pass coverage. Where Martinez is great at reading defenses, Burks is a step slow, but relies on his excellent speed to catch up.

Burks will put on another clinic against the Steelers. He’ll do a great job of matching up with their tight ends and running backs and locking them down in coverage. He’ll also fly from sideline to sideline in order to wrap up ball-carriers. Look for Burks to continue to flash his great ability on Thursday night.
