4. New England Patriots Defense

They are consistently the most well-coached team in the NFL. Bill Belichick has won five Super Bowls with Tom Brady running the offense. He has frequently made his defense perform well above expectations. While the Patriots rarely have a true big-name star, they have players that play well within their system. The Patriot Way has more and more developed into something to be taken seriously by the rest of the NFL for the way the players perform.

Rodgers vs Brady is one of the most hotly debated topics of the NFL right now. Rodgers has better performance stats, but Brady has the rings and titles. The Packers have typically fared well against the Patriots since Rodgers became the two-time MVP he is now. However, the Patriots defense has become more star-studded over the last year or so. The Patriots added Stephon Gilmore, among others last season to stretch their title window with Brady.

While they lost defensive coordinator Matt Patricia to the Detroit Lions this offseason, the defensive structure is still there. Belichick will find a way to make this team a top-10 defense by season’s end. They also play the Packers in New England, where they have consistently one of the best home-field advantages in the NFL. The Packers play them in early November, following a matchup with the up-and-coming Los Angeles Rams. It should be an interesting battle.
