3. Wide Receiver Battle Royale

Outside of Adams, Randall Cobb, and presumably Geronimo Allison, wide receiver is up in the air as to who will fill out the roster. Elder statesman Jake Kumerow has looked like the best product throughout camp thus far. However, the Packers have far more invested in players like their three rookie draft picks along with Trevor Davis. Kumerow is also 26 years old, so he is nearly out of “cheap” contract years, whereas the rookies have quite a few left.

After the top three group, Kumerow is fighting with Davis, J’Mon Moore, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Equanimeous St. Brown, along with various undrafted free agents. The Packers management and coaching staff are constantly working to put the best possible team around Aaron Rodgers. Wednesday did not do much for that unit of players. While Rodgers won’t be playing this week, this will be their chance to redeem themselves and make up for any camp struggles.

The Packers will most likely keep six, possibly seven wide receivers. They currently have 11 on their active roster. Some of these guys just aren’t going to make the roster. It’s just the business of the game. These guys are going to have to show out over this week and the next few. It’ll be interesting to see who plays for the Titans among defensive backs. If it’s some of their top talents, the Packers receivers could have some struggles.
