5. David Bakhtiari

Per Pro Football Focus, David Bakhtiari was the second highest graded tackle in the NFL last season. This also included the top grade in pass protection. Despite Bakhtiari’s continued improvement to one of the best blindside tackles, he continues to be underrated. He is also underpaid. Heading into this season he ranks tied for eighth in left tackle contract value. Among those ahead of him, only Trent Williams and Jake Matthews ranked inside the top-10.

When he was drafted, most assumed that he would be another depth piece at tackle. Since being a 16 game starter as a rookie, he has consistently progressed to the top of his position. Some would look at the Packers cap sheet, some would say that Bakhtiari is paid adequately or above average. However, his fourth overall cap hit shows how good the team has been at managing their players that receive contract extensions.

When looking at the premier positions in the NFL, left tackle is near the top for teams when building a roster. The Packers locked up their’s to a deal that made him only a top-10 paid player at his position while getting top-five production. Rodgers is coming off of his second broken collarbone, and the offensive line was a revolving door of bad play and injured players last season. Bakhtiari will be the best piece of it, and he should continue to make his contract look like a steal.
