The Green Bay Packers always do a great job of managing their salary cap. This has worked out to them having several players underpaid by league standards.

The Green Bay Packers are heading into 2018 with big aspirations. A Super Bowl title is hopefully coming down the pike at the end of this season.

Teams with Super Bowl hopes are never afraid to spend a lot of cash if it will put them over the top. The Packers have made a consistently strong team, without ever being severely strapped for cash. One key part of that has been their ability to get players to take hometown discounts or they pay them young before they become stars.

Heading into this season, that continues to ring true. The Packers have multiple Pro Bowlers on the team that sit outside the top five or 10 at their position in contract value. While splash moves like the Los Angeles Rams have made this offseason can help, if they don’t pan out, it can mess you up for the future. The Packers often have the foresight to hand out contracts that reward their players, while still being “team-friendly.”

While the Packers have been handing out major deals this offseason, they still maintained some of their financial flexibility. The key to that is players being valued as underpaid compared to their production. The Packers plan to continue their method for team building and, with players poised for breakouts, they could add to this list.
