1. Davon House

Davon House has been predicted as a surprise cut since the Packers spent their 2018 first and second round picks on cornerbacks Jaire Alexander and Joshua Jackson respectively. House began the year as the first team cornerback in practice, but quickly fell down the depth chart. However, he was listed as Kevin King‘s primary backup on the depth chart release.

While that may be where he’ll end up, it was surprising to see Jackson behind him. Jackson has a lot of talent and a higher ceiling than the veteran House. Unfortunately, Jackson has been unable to capitalize on his opportunities so far.

This is the perfect example of McCarthy valuing veterans over rookies. Both players have been underwhelming, yet House gets the nod due to his experience in the NFL. It’s certainly not a bad tie-breaker for a contending team. Regardless, this is a position to keep an eye on as the Preseason progresses.
