2. Team success

It’s nearly impossible to win an MVP award if you don’t play for a successful team. That was one of Antetokounmpo’s biggest downfalls last season. Even though he wasn’t able to keep up with the great numbers he put up at the beginning of the season, earning the seventh seed in the weakened East only hurt his case.

However, thanks to internal growth from players like Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, Malcolm Brogdon and Thon Maker, the Bucks should be able to jump into the top half of the East. Also, the free agent additions of Ersan Ilyasova and Brook Lopez should provide Milwaukee with more veteran leadership and outside shooting.

If Milwaukee can take that leap into the top three or four spots in their conference, Antetokounmpo’s MVP resume will only grow. Look for the entire Bucks team to mesh at a higher level thanks to the new head coach, Mike Budenholzer, and an improved roster.
