Wisconsin Football: 5 reasons to be pessimistic for 2018 season

2. Defensive Line

Similar to the secondary, the Badgers have a lot of players to replace in their front seven. The linebacking corps, however, appears more adept at handling the changes considering the experience and talent they have on the roster. The defensive line is a different story, unfortunately.

Olive Sagapolu is the anchor of the unit and is a great returning player. Wisconsin lacks depth everywhere else. So much so that they just moved Kaden Lyles from offense to nose tackle.

With the defensive line in flux, there are more questions than answers at this point. When they return to practice, we’ll definitely begin to get a better idea about how the line will shape out. However, this unit has a huge impact on the game, as they allow the linebackers to run free and make as many impact plays as possible. Hopefully, they get it figured out soon.
