3. Inexperience in the secondary

The Badgers lost a lot of talent and experience in their secondary including starters Nick Nelson, Derrick Tindal and Natrell Jamerson. That leaves D’Cota Dixon as the only returning starter from their incredibly great 2017 secondary.

While Dixon will anchor the unit, there will be inexperience and question marks everywhere else. As of now, it appears as if Dontye Carriere-Williams, Madison Cone or Faion Hicks are the favorites to win a couple of the starting spots at corner.

Although they are talented, Hicks is a freshman and Cone and Carriere-Williams are sophomores. They don’t have very much game experience between the three of them so there will certainly be some growing pains as the season wears on. Given the talent the Badgers will face this season, the secondary will have their work cut out for them if they want to have a shot at going undefeated.
