2. Oren Burks

Oren Burks is one of two rookies on the list and could become the most explosive player. Burks was selected in the third round of the 2018 draft out of Vanderbilt. He really made a name for himself in college thanks to his versatility and ability to play multiple positions.

Although he’s technically a linebacker, Burks can also play safety as well. He demonstrated that in college, as he moved all over the field. Burks is able to do this thanks to his great speed. The Packers are certainly looking to get faster and meaner and Burks gives them a great opportunity to do that.

He should be able to earn the second inside linebacker job behind Blake Martinez. Even though the Packers might not play a lot of the traditional 3-4, Burks will have the opportunity to carve out a role as a coverage linebacker. This is an area Green Bay has struggled in recently and the main reason the selected Burks so high. Let’s see if he can begin to show out early in training camp and smother some of these good running backs and tight ends in coverage.
