The Green Bay Packers have already kicked off training camp for the 2018 season. Let’s preview five players who could become darlings this summer.

Every season, at least one player begins to make a name for himself in training camp. This begins with spectacular plays with the media present, great measurable and an intriguing backstory. Former Green Bay Packers’ receiver Jeff Janis is a perfect example.

Janis was a seventh round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft after playing college at well-known Saginaw Valley State. People didn’t know much about Janis, but they knew he was tall (6-foot-3), could run fast (4.42 40-yard dash) and jump high (37.5 inch vertical jump). Those three attributes were enough to convince some that he was the next Hall of Fame receiver for the Packers.

To add to the hype, Janis made a couple of plays in training camp against low-level corners and a few plays here and there in preseason games. Then, when it came to the regular season, people couldn’t understand why he didn’t get on the field. This is the perfect example of a training camp darling.

Who will be the darling this season? We’re not quite sure yet. However, we can try to narrow it down as best as possible. Let’s take a preview of five players who could potentially catch the eye and some love from Packers’ fans everywhere.
