5. Jamaal Williams

Jamaal Williams is one of the players whose bodies took the biggest leap in the offseason. This has led to rave reviews from head coach Mike McCarthy: “He’s bigger, stronger. He looks good. I feel pretty confident that when we’re talking about the season that he’s going to be one of the guys that’s taken the big second-year leap.”

Who better to listen to then the head coach? I mean, the praise doesn’t get any higher than that. Williams had a pretty good rookie season, accruing 818 yards from scrimmage. Even if that number doesn’t increase this season, he should be able to do more with the carries he receives.

Williams will certainly be in a timeshare with Aaron Jones and Ty Montgomery at running back. However, Jones is suspended for the first two games, opening up the door for Williams to jump in and take the lead. If he can prove to be more durable than last season, the second-year player could be in store for a good season ahead.
