2. Safety: Josh Jones vs Kentrell Brice

The Packers’ secondary has the potential to either be a solid unit or a complete mess this year. With the cornerback position also in flux, Green Bay has to figure out their starting safety opposite Ha Ha Clinton-Dix. Former starter Morgan Burnett signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers in free agency, leaving a sizable hole in his wake.

Kentrell Brice and Josh Jones will be the two competitors in this battle, with Jones presumably having the lead as training camp opens. Jones was a second round pick in 2017 and is extremely athletic. He also brings passion and energy to the field, something the Packers have lacked in recent seasons.

Brice is also athletic, but has shown very little understanding of how to play in the NFL. He’s often way out of position and not anywhere near where he’s supposed to be. This might be the case of Pettine relying on both guys to get the job done, depending on the matchups in any given week. Whatever the case, at least one of these players is going to enhance their game from 2017.
