4. Cornerback

Where there are two players vying for the backup quarterback spot, there are numerous players in the battle at corner. And exactly how many spots are up for grabs is unknown as well. It could be three starting spots (two outside and one slot), if that’s the alignment Mike Pettine goes with.

As we preview this position, one thing is for certain and that is that nothing is for certain. Presumably Kevin King and Tramon Williams will be the starters on the outside with Jaire Alexander sliding to the slot. However, all three of those guys have to prove their worth, as they won’t be given starting spots to begin the year.

For example, if Joshua Jackson outplays Williams and Williams outplays Alexander, Jackson and King might start on the outside with Williams moving inside. Or the Packers might use Williams all over the field and rely on the other three players to line up at the traditional corner positions. OR Davon House could prove himself capable and work himself into the regular rotation. The possibilities are endless!

Having options is great for this year’s team. Even if they lack experience, they certainly have a lot more talent at the position than last year’s squad.
