As the Milwaukee Brewers attempt to make a push for a division title and/or a playoff spot, they will need these five players to pick up their game.

About a week ago, the sky was falling on the Milwaukee Brewers’ 2018 season. They had lost six straight games and seven of eight in the final week leading up to the All-Star break. They were suddenly down three games to the new division leader Chicago Cubs. The 2018 season was a disaster and a lost hope.

While fans continued to freak out on social media, the Brewers’ players and coaching staff continued to go to work, maintaining their professionalism and focus. After losing two of three to the Los Angeles Dodgers to start the “second-half,” Milwaukee took two of three from the Washington Nationals and continue to push toward their goal of a playoff birth.

However, in order for them to make their goal a reality, they must get better contributions from a number of players on their roster. Even while vying for the best record in the National League, Milwaukee’s defense has suffered lately and their bats have never seemed to get going.

Because of this, manager Craig Counsell has been forced to rely upon a cluster of starting pitchers and one of the best and most-used bullpens in the MLB. How long that can successfully continue is anyone’s guess. Until then, the Brewers must focus on jumpstarting their offense. These five players (mostly position players) have to pick up their level of play and help push Milwaukee closer to a playoff berth.
