Milwaukee Bucks: Grading every offseason move in 2018
Ersan Ilyasova: C
Ersan Ilyasova and the Bucks agreed to a three-year, $21 million deal almost as soon as free agency begun. It was questioned at the time and continues to be questioned now. Why did the Bucks go after a player like Ilyasova right away?
By doing so, they basically gave up on Jabari Parker, ultimately allowing him to walk. They also likely overpaid for Ilyasova considering the lack of money other teams had and have to sign players. These questions lowered the grade immensely.
On the other hand, Ilyasova appears to be a perfect fit with the Bucks. He’s a floor-spacing big which Milwaukee desperately needs. He should be able to fit in alongside Antetokounmpo when he’s not filling in for him on the court. Ilyasova is likely projected as the backup power forward, but can also slide over and play some center. For these reasons, this grade receives a solid C.
