1. Jacob deGrom

Jacob deGrom is perhaps the best starting pitcher available and someone the Brewers should seriously look into. Even though he’s only 5-4 on the season for the New York Mets, he has a 1.68 ERA. This allowed him to make his second All-Star appearance.

The right-handed pitcher also has another season of team control beyond 2018, further improving his value to any club trying to trade for him.

The Brewers would be smart to pursue deGrom’s services, as one of the things they lack is a star pitcher. That’s never been more than evident right now as they are in the midst of a nasty losing streak. Someone like deGrom can be a streak stopper and give his team a great chance to win every time he’s on the mound. With Jimmy Nelson‘s return unknown, deGrom could be the defacto ace for at least the next season and a half.
