5. Outside linebacker depth

Clay Matthews is already on record with his thoughts about the Packers’ outside linebacker position. With Matthews and Nick Perry penciled in as the starters, there are few other proven options behind them.

Vince Biegel, Kyler Fackrell and Reggie Gilbert are the three guys who will be fighting over snaps in the rotation. Even though each one brings something different to the table, none of the three are exactly exciting to watch nor strike fear into opposing offenses.

Even with Matthews’ criticism, general manager Brian Gutekunst didn’t address the position this offseason. One of the only positions he didn’t touch. Maybe he’s counting on Perry and Matthews to actually stay healthy for once, something that has very rarely happened in their time together. Maybe, he’s got something else up his sleeve. Whatever the case, it’s an important storyline to keep an eye on throughout training camp, especially if someone goes down with an early injury.
