Milwaukee Brewers: 2018 First half team awards
Silver Slugger: Jesus Aguilar
Due to the number of hitters who are struggling in Milwaukee’s offense, there are even more limited candidates for the Silver Slugger award. Perhaps, the only three players who can make a true case are Yelich, Cain and Jesus Aguilar.
Yelich and Cain have done a great job of setting the table consistently at the top of the lineup. They always seem to get on base, but often get stranded due to the lack of production behind them. Although they have been good this season, they haven’t been consistently great like Aguilar has been.
Aguilar entered the season as the third string first baseman. However, he’s earned his spot in the everyday lineup and was selected to his first All-Star game on the final fan vote. Of the regular starters, he has the highest batting average (.298), slugging percentage (.621) and Ops (.995). Oh, and he also leads the team in home runs (24) and RBIs (70). That about wraps up his case for the Silver Slugger award. What else do you need?
