1. Improved cornerback play

The number one reason the Packers will surprise the NFL is because of their improved play at the cornerback position. It wasn’t a secret they struggled mightily in this area in 2017 and lacked overall talent at the position. Fortunately, that’s all changed heading into this season.

With Davon House returning, he provides the Packers with quality depth. He may not be starter material, but with this year’s team, he won’t have to be. Ahead of him is another veteran in Tramon Williams. Williams is in some of his last years in the league, but played well in previous seasons. He brings an edge and a knowledge about how to play this game that’s been missing since the departure of Charles Woodson.

After Williams is three youngsters; second-year player Kevin King and rookies Jaire Alexander and Josh Jackson. All three guys are inexperienced, but possess immense talent. If Green Bay can even get positive contributions from two of the three, they will be set in the secondary this year.

Don’t get me wrong, this secondary won’t be elite. At least not this season. There will certainly be there bumps and bruises as they learn the ropes. However, they only have to be league average in order for the Packers to compete and surprise everyone in 2018. That’s not such a high bar.
