5. Jimmy Nelson returns to form

Jimmy Nelson has missed the entire 2018 season due to surgery he had in the winter on a torn rotator cuff. Nelson suffered the injury sliding back into a base during a game last year and has continued to battle back from the injury.

Before the year began, there were rumors swirling around that Nelson was going to be ready to return in June. Obviously, that hasn’t happened and there’s even less known about his return date these days. Last we heard, Nelson had began throwing off flat ground, but that was way back at the end of April.

One of the major pieces the Brewers are missing is an ace of their pitching staff. So far, the starters have been pitching admirably and holding things together. However, the Brewers lack a guy who can consistently go deep into games and get the Brewers our of a funk like they are in now.

In this scenario, Nelson would not only return to the mound, but return to the same form he showed last season. This would be like a mid-season acquisition for Milwaukee and allow them to ride a fresh arm in the playoffs.
