The Green Bay Packers are heading into 2018 with a very new look to their team. If their play matches what they are on paper, it’ll be a great year.

The Green Bay Packers head into 2018 with tons of optimism. A healthy Aaron Rodgers and a revamped defense have this team poised to contend for another Lombardi trophy. After a disappointing 2017 season, the team plans to put that blip in the rearview mirror.

Rumors circulated last season that Mike McCarthy could be out as head coach. He’s back and has a new staff to support him. Joe Philbin has returned as offensive coordinator and Mike Pettine is in as defensive coordinator. Philbin ran the offense in Rodgers most dominant season in 2011. Pettine has coordinated for five seasons. His defenses ranked no worse than 10th in yards per game.

Rodgers has been given two new tight end weapons to use, along with a young, versatile running back group. Davante Adams is healthy with a new deal. The offense is set up for success with weapons all over the field.

The defense has let Rodgers and the offense down more than once in recent years. Since the team last won a Super Bowl in the 2010 season, the defense has given up an average of 33.83 points in those losses. This year could be different with a new scheme and several young, talented faces in key spots. The passing defense has been overhauled with three of the top four cornerbacks being new faces from last year. The run defense is perpetually getting better with more experience.

Packer fans are hungry for another title in the trophy case. Mike McCarthy and the coaching staff are ready to give it to them. Optimism is buzzing around the team. Let’s get into why fans should be so excited for this team.
