Should new general manager Brian Gutekunst dip his toes back into the free agent pool, here are 6 players the Green Bay Packers should take a flyer on.

Isn’t this a great feeling? Here we are in June, yet we are still able to almost somewhat realistically talk about free agents the Green Bay Packers could sign.

That’s all thanks to new general manager Brian Gutekunst. Gutekunst has shown a willingness to use free agency as a tool to build his team, something his predecessor ignorantly ignored. We’ve already seen the Packers sign tight end Marcedes Lewis and tackle Byron Bell to improve the depth, so could an outside linebacker be next?

The Packers failed to address the position in the 2018 NFL Draft and have already been criticized by Clay Matthews for not having enough playmakers at the position. Green Bay is counting on healthy seasons from both Matthews and starter Nick Perry, as well as a leap in production from Vince Biegel, Reggie Gilbert and Kyler Fackrell. Whether any or all of those things happen remains to be seen.

Although there isn’t a clear-cut difference maker left this late in free agency, there are a number of guys who could step in and play a part-time role with the Packers. This added depth could be a season-saver when the inevitable injury to Matthews and/or Perry happens.

These guys are mostly veterans who would also bring a nice presence into the locker room. Their impact would certainly be felt on more than just the field. Let’s take a look at six players the Packers could still take a flyer on when it comes to the outside linebacker position in free agency.
