The Milwaukee Bucks need to hit home on their first-round pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. Here are five players they should stay away from in order to do so.

The Milwaukee Bucks are entering a critical stage of their development; trying to take the leap from a good team into a great team. It’s perhaps one of the most difficult things to do in any sport. Every season, teams go from bad to good or mediocre to good. But it’s a rare sight when a team jumps into the upper-echelon of the NBA and emerges as a true contender.

Last season, the Bucks did the former. They made the playoffs for the second consecutive year and secured their second straight winning record as well. Furthermore, they improved their record for the third straight time.

This is a nice start for a team who has their eyes on a much bigger prize. With Giannis Antetokounmpo just beginning to come into his own as a true superstar in the NBA, Milwaukee finally has the big block to build around. What’s even better is they have a second legitimate star in Khris Middleton even though he’s severely underrated.

In Middleton and Antetokounmpo, the Bucks have the stars who can carry them to the next level. Now, it’s time to put the complimentary pieces in around them. They have guys like Malcolm Brogdon, Tony Snell and Eric Bledsoe who each have their role on their squad. However, they need a little bit more out of their role players in order to jump into greatness.

In order to add those players, they need to maximize all their resources and the draft is one of the best places to do that. So, without further ado, let’s examine the five players the Bucks should avoid selecting in the draft or take the risk of failing to add a cheap contributor in the most important of times.
