1. Clay Matthews

Clay Matthews is the No. 1 player on this list of candidates who aren’t likely to be on the team in 2019.

Matthews was a pass-rushing demon early on his career, often wreaking havoc on opposing quarterbacks and ruining entire game plans. Unfortunately, he’s been far from that for a number of years, as injuries have slowed him down and limited his ability to stay on the field.

That isn’t to say he doesn’t play hard when he’s on the field, as there’s no doubting the hustle and effort he puts forth. The final game in 2017 is a perfect example of that because he left everything he had on the field in a game that meant absolutely nothing.

Matthews is making $10.4 million in the final year of his contract this season and will surely take a huge pay cut no matter where he signs in 2019. Green Bay might be smart to keep him around if they can come to a mutually beneficial deal.
